Inspiration 9 – Curves

Throughout my trip I had been mesmerized by these hills. They were gorgeous.

I liked the contrast with the sky whether it was during the heat of the day, at dusk or at night. The curves were voluptuous and they reminded me of a woman's body. They created an ever changing silhouette with the sky. They run for miles along the West coast and on my four to six hour Coast Starlight train ride coming and going to Monterey, CA they gave me an ever changing view. I couldn't get enough of them.

In contrast when I got to the Botanic Garden in Sydney, Australia it was the trees that had me mesmerized.

This one was stunningly groomed complete with a head dress, but not what you would call slim.

The curves of this tree were unusual and inviting for someone from the Northern hemisphere. But I am not alone, it was roped off to keep people from getting too close. You just want to give it a hug.

The same goes for the art. This piece is both textural and engrossing despite being lopsided. Maybe that is what makes it engrossing and approachable.

Don't forget a kiwi classic, Milford Sound, and one of my favorite paintings at the Art Gallery NSW.

How many people myself included flock to see these hills every year.

Nobody ever says the hills or trees are too big, fat, or lopsided. They just are and people are attracted to them.

I keep being drawn to the idea of just accepting, appreciating and embracing the curves of a woman's body, my own included. They can be just as beautiful and mesmerizing.
