Peter’s garage altar is impressive. He spends hours out in it with Randy the interior designer developing it. It centers around loving life as espoused by Ram Dass and his book Be Here Now and construction tools for making cabinetry. This was no more apparent than the stencils across the back cabinets – BE HERE NOW.
Peter has been suffering from cancer off and on for years and I and maybe the office are in denial as to how serious it is getting.
I choose to just appreciate this altar, not ask philosophical questions and be in awe of every new addition. It was a gorgeous organizational display of great tools and the color orange.
It even has a chandelier.
My one small addition was to make this table runner for the candles on the worktable/altar.
I feel blessed to be back here getting to spend time breaking bread, cooking and working for and with him. Here I am cooking one night after work at his house celebrating something with Randy wearing a party hat in the background.
Well as all things must come to end this story is winding down too.
*Peter closed the office shortly before my last scheduled flight to New Zealand and it seemed like a good time to leave the firm. My last parting gift was to help facilitate this party to let everyone come together one last time.
Peter Becker passed away on August 1, 2016. Thank you for all you taught me in our loving time together. As I said when I was leaving "Until next time."
