Chapter Thirteen – Curtains

Updated: Nov 30, 2018

Ever since I arrived the Interior Designer, Randy, has been visiting and discussing curtains with my co-worker.

It sounds so much like fashion. You get a pile of fabric swatches to pour over. Words like weight, color, drape and opacity are bantered about. I personally love the sheers, they are so evocative, but they were dismissed long ago.

When the talk moved to pleats I knew we were making progress. Now they went on and on about the formality of traditional pleats, the more contemporary inverted pleats and I discussed the inverted pleats I did for my own curtains above.

These curtains had become a kind of background noise.

That is until, the morning when I woke up with my first concrete design idea. It was a mush of the framed view and the inverted curtain pleats.

Remember the view is more impressive when it is slowly revealed or restrained. You let on that there is something worth exploring. Hold back, but give a hint.

Thus enters the charcoal grey fabric with the shocking burst of color in the inverted pleat.

At this point I knew I was on to something and went in search of lining online.

Letting that inner self peek out.
