In architecture an interior designer is a real luxury. A good one is worth their weight in gold and once you've been touched it is hard to go back.
Randy Franks is our favorite. We like to include him early, but we'll take him any time we can get him. He is a little eccentric, but it comes with the territory.
When the full design team gets going it is like having someone around to finish your sentences. You just build on each others ideas and the final product is always improved. He describes it as "A single note." You can't tell where the architecture ends and the interior design begins.
Tagging along with him was how I got to go to the site. Let's hope he gets hired, but if not he'll still be around.
My favorite projects in the office all have his touch on them and I was part of these "dream teams".
I've known him for years. At our house we call him "funny Randy". I'm sure when my daughter at the young age of 5 turned to me and said "Mom that matches 'tooo' much" it came from Randy's influence.
He is a taste maker. I've heard stories of him even choosing engagement rings without the grooms ever seeing the rings (it may be a little exaggerated, but not much). Some people regularly use him as a fashion consultant to cull their closet's.
So, when I heard he was helping Julie pick out a wedding dress, I wasn't surprised.
Who's Julie? You'll have to wait for that.
